EDITED: Just one of MANY unreported deaths at the SnoCo Jail

Diana Hefley informed me I was absolutely wrong, I evidently did NOT do a thorough or correct search when I reported on this story & I would like to apologize to my readers & the Herald staff.

The local paper has access to the SAME records as anyone does. They pick & chose what they write about. Obviously this human being wasn’t important enough for them to give a sh*t about... CORRECTION: THE LOCAL PAPER DID IN FACT REPORT ON THIS DEATH & DID A VERY IN-DEPTH REPORT ON IT ON JUNE,23,2014

Conflicts Check: Clint Richard, as PR for the Estate of Sydeny K. Richard v. Snohomish County

A Complaint for Damages arising from Wrongful Death has been filed in the Superior Court for Snohomish County. Plaintiff alleges that on March 1, 2011, Sydney Richard was booked into the county jail, and that his health began to deteriorate. Plaintiff alleges that Richard notified the jail of his need for medical care, and that his complaints were ignored until he started to bleed from his nose and ears. Plaintiff alleges that he was transported to Providence Hospital, where he died four days later. Plaintiff claims that the County owed a “non-delegable positive duty” to provide medical care. Plaintiff claims negligence and makes a vague claim for a state Constitutional violation. Plaintiff seeks unspecified damages to be determined at trial (demanded $1,000,000 in the claim previously filed with Risk Management).

**Not included in the complaint: Richard was on work release, was seen by his own physician and was taking antibiotics prescribed by his physician. A jail nurse made the decision to transfer him to Providence on 3/6/11 as his condition continued to deteriorate and he died on 3/22/11.**

So first off this piece of crap county attorney Johnathan Jason Cummings, doesn’t even have the respect to spell this human being’s name right

He has to start bleeding from his nose & ears before they did anything????

There is NO vague Constitutional claim here: IT IS CRYSTAL CLEAR

Then he goes on to try to “justify” it by saying he was seeing his own doctor & the jail nurse decided he should go to the hospital

But you see Jason Cummings holier then though attitude is merely a symptom of EVERYTHING that is wrong with Snohomish County. He wouldn’t dare think to talk or act like this if he thought anyone else cared. They don’t. They all feel like they are so much better then us lowly voters.

Sadly there are far more cases of people dying because of lack of care in the Snohomish County Jail, they are dying about once every 5 weeks since Ty Trenary took over, whereas it was 1 about every 4 months under Lovick’s reign.

Even 1 death is one too many. I am trying to find family members of any of the people who died as a result of the jail’s neglect & do a story on each person. Someone needs to know that they were here, that they mattered to someone, that they had value in spite of the choices some may have made.
